The Friends of The Seattle Public Library is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to promoting our Library as an essential institution of our society. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the larger Seattle community.
Friends are ambassadors to the community. Members help share the news about how many important programs and services the Library provides, in addition to its collections.
Here are some ways you can help the Friends' mission:
Become a Member
The best way to get involved is to become a member of the Friends! You can become a member for just $15 for a full year. Visit our Membership page for more information.
Advocate for the Library
Friends actively advocate for adequate funding for collections, operations, and services, by attending public budget hearings and by writing letters to the mayor and the city council in support of library resources. To learn about what the Friends are doing to advocate for the Library and to find out if you can help, visit our Advocate page.
Work as a Volunteer
We have many opportunities to help out. We can use help with our Shop, Book Sales, advocacy and communications. If you are interested in volunteering for the Friends, please visit our Volunteer page.
